Inspiration. Where does it come from? Ideas and creativity. Does it spring from a Divine Source? For Cathleen Whitelow Jewels, they do. As a jewelry design firm, inspiration is received from a Divine Source - the Lord.
Jeremiah 29:11-14 is my life platform -
"For I know the plans I have for you, says
When I look back over my life, I can clearly see that I was being cradled within the Hands of God.
As a little girl growing up in Bremerhaven and Frankfurt, West Germany, I would collect rocks that I found twinkling in the Sun's light. I still have some of those rocks with me today. Even at that early age, I had a strong affinity for rocks. They possessed a natural beauty that to me, was indescribable. In particular, I have one rock that I currently use to keep my patio door open. It is so beautiful that I used to tell myself that inside, there was a diamond large enough to put the "Hope Diamond" to shame. I told myself that one day, I was going to break open this rock and remove the breathtakingly beautiful diamond that MUST be inside! With my rock collection, God was showing to me a "commercial" of things to come in my life.
In the early 1980s, I modeled for Saks Fifth Avenue in New Orleans, my hometown. I was also a student at Loyola University in New Orleans, where my major was marketing/management. During breaks in rehearsals for fashion shows for the store, I would study my lesson to prepare me for my classes. In replica watches my mind at the time, I thought that the purpose of my modeling was to help me pay for my college tuition. Little did I know that the people God was placing in my life during that time, He would use to launch me into His Purpose for my life.
Fast forward to April 2001. I was now living in Dallas, working within the cable television industry. As a hobby, I was making jewelry for myself and friends. I had no thoughts of pursuing a jewelry design career. I didn't come from a design or an art background. Making jewelry was fun!
For years, I had been experiencing a restlessness with my life and with my career. I wasn't unhappy but I wasn't satisfied either. I knew that I was destined for greatness, for something much larger but didn't know what it was. My Spirit was whispering to me during this time but I chalked it up to "mindless dreaming".
That month, I went home to New Orleans to visit family and friends. While there, I stopped by Saks Fifth Avenue for a visit. The store manager, the same store manager that was in place during my modeling days in the early 1980s, stopped me and wanted to know where I purchased my necklace. I told her that I made it. She then asked me if I was interested in selling my jewelry. I told her that I designed and created jewelry for me and my friends' enjoyment. At that point, she referred me to her jewelry manager. After he reviewed the few pieces that I had with me, he took them to Saks Fifth Avenue/New York and presented them to the Corporate fashion jewelry buyer. The buyer reviewed my designs and gave permission to the New Orleans store to launch my line. "Cathleen Whitelow Jewels" was launched at Saks Fifth Avenue/New Orleans July 2001. Saks Fifth Avenue/Dallas launched my line August 2001 and Saks Fifth Avenue/Cincinnati launched my line September 2001. I have had breitling replica several store launches since then. I am now living, walking, working in His Purpose for my life - full time. I have left Corporate America and have never looked back!
I now realize that my life has been a "set-up" - an anointed set-up by God. Every good gift comes from God (1 Corinthians 7:7; James 1:17). Do not neglect the gift that God has placed within you (1 Timothy 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:6). Where He places you, He has provided for you. His Provision is abundant!
